Facebook ads...catchy or clutter?

Difficulty already arises while scrolling through Facebook and trying to avoid every post from your "friends" about their babies, cats, lunch, and their political and religious views. To make matters even more difficult, now advertisers advertise their products/company on your timeline as well.
Although many advertisers may see this as a great way to promote themselves, avid Facebook users may feel differently. With all of the chatter in cyberspace, adding to the clutter may only hinder you as a company.
One great way companies use social media is by creating a buzz. Sometimes the initial consumers, or "innovators", become the ones that marketers must rely on to create a buss about their company/product. However, it seems many companies simply rely on themselves.
Another great way companies use Facebook to advertise their product is by creating innovative promotional strategies to ENGAGE consumers. Even as simple as just "the best comment will receive a free _________" engages customers more than a simple advertisement.
In order to stay out of the clutter of Facebook, advertisers must choose more creative approaches to reach consumers rather than simply posting an ad on Facebook that will show up between your dad's political post and your friend's passive aggressive post about her ex.
